Jill Yeager, D.O.

I was aware that I wanted to pursue a career in oncology from a young age when cancer affected my own family. Although the relentlessness of the disease was harrowing to witness, it was also inspiring to watch the determination and strength from within my family, as well as the compassion and empathy of the oncology team -- which just so happened to be at HOA!

As a Central New York native, I began work toward that dream by first working at local hospitals to gain experience, then completing my undergraduate studies at Le Moyne College with a major in Biology. I continued my medical education at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, PA. During my time in medical school, I was able to work with several mentors in the field of oncology, whose compassion and work ethic were motivational and unparalleled. The field of oncology is rapidly evolving with continuously improving screening, diagnostics, and treatment. It is such an exciting field to enter as a physician, as we can continue to make huge leaps and advancements in care.  These experiences further solidified my desire to pursue a future career in medical oncology.

I returned home to Syracuse to begin my Internal Medicine Training at SUNY Upstate. I had the honor of serving as Chief Resident at Upstate, gaining valuable leadership experience. During this time, I was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. I went on to complete the last leg of my goal, pursuing fellowship training in Hematology/Oncology at Upstate. 

I am excited that my journey allows me to remain right here in Central New York, to spend my career and raise my children close to family. I am honored to be joining this exceptional group of physicians at Hematology Oncology Associates who are committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based medicine. Outside of work I enjoy traveling, cooking and reading, and most importantly spending time with my two sons.
