Medication Services

Oncology treatments are complex, but our Medication Services team is here to help make your journey easier. Our Medication Services team is conveniently located in the lobby adjacent to the reception area at the Brittonfield and Camillus office locations. The Medication Services team is staffed with Pharmacists and Certified Pharmacy Technicians who are a resource for you to obtain the Oncolytic medications prescribed to you as a part of your Oncology treatment plan. Oncology treatment plans require close monitoring. Our Pharmacists work very closely with your physician care team and have direct access to your chart. They are able to review all new chemotherapy regimen starts for appropriateness, dosing, interactions, etc, in order to ensure your treatment plan is safe and appropriate for you. Upon initiation of therapy, our Pharmacists can provide you with detailed information regarding your treatment plan, expected side effects, side effect management, and provide other ways to optimize your drug therapy regimen. Changing doses or treatments is simple with support from our dedicated pharmacist and technician staff. We exclusively work with our own HOACNY providers and HOACNY patients, meaning we can react quickly to changes in therapy and deliver care more efficiently.

Additionally, our medication services team will check in with you after recent new starts and routinely at pick-up of medication to see how you are doing and answer any questions you may have. Being that we are on-site in the office, we can work to get you your medication when your doctor wants you to start treatment. We can determine your insurance benefits and what prescriptions we can fill in our office. We will follow your medication care throughout your entire treatment journey.

Our dedicated medication services team will also help to investigate any available financial assistance resources available to you (on your behalf), such as manufacturer funded copay cards, disease specific grants, funds from non-profits, or manufacturer funded patient assistance programs, to help aid in reducing the cost associated with your treatment.

 The ultimate goals of our Medication Services Team are;

  • to assist in optimizing your care via consistent communication
  • to enhance patient care and outcomes
  • to assist with improved adherence to medication regimen
  • to ensure faster treatment initiation
  • to provide individualized education
  • to reduce medication waste
  • to reduce financial toxicity associated with treatment
  • to improve overall patient experience as it related to medication
