Visitor Policy

Hematology Oncology Associates (HOA) recognizes the importance of family support during cancer treatment while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients.

Visitors are welcome provided they comply with infection prevention, safety, and privacy requirements. The clinical team retains the authority to limit, restrict, or remove visitors when necessary to protect patient safety, privacy, treatment operations, or regulatory compliance.

  • Individuals experiencing symptoms of illness shall not accompany patients to appointments until symptom-free.
  • Due to infection control risks, only one visitor per patient.
  • Visitors are expected to respect the privacy, dignity, and healthcare needs of all patients.
  • Photography, video recording, audio recording, or live streaming is prohibited in any area where patients, visitors, or protected health information may be visible or overheard. This restriction applies to all recording-capable devices, including but not limited to:
    • Mobile phones
    • Tablets
    • Smart watches
    • Smart glasses
    • Cameras
    • Other electronic recording devices
  • Visitors are recommended to be twelve (12) years of age or older.
  • Children under twelve (12) years of age may accompany a patient only when accompanied and supervised by an adult other than the patient.
  • Visitors in infusion treatment areas must be sixteen (16) years of age or older.
  • Any visitor, regardless of age, may be asked to leave a clinical area due to:
    • Space limitations
    • Infection prevention concerns
    • Safety risks
    • Exposure to radiation
    • Exposure to hazardous medications
    • Disruption of patient care activities
  • Additional visitor restrictions may be implemented during periods of increased infectious disease activity or as directed by organizational leadership.
  • Only certified service dogs are allowed to accompany patients. We unfortunately cannot accommodate therapy and emotional support animals.
