I have called Syracuse home since my mother and I moved here from Dublin, Ireland when I was 11 years old. I have always been impressed by her bravery in taking a child and only two suitcases to America to make a fresh start. This amazing opportunity taught me the value of hard work which has helped me through my medical career.

From a young age I enjoyed problem solving which drew me to my first career in computers. I worked in the computer industry both before and after going to college at Rochester Institute of Technology where I studied computer science/biomedical computing. While I loved the challenge of this field, something was missing for me. It was at this point that I started to consider the field of medicine. At first I began by riding in an ambulance and became an EMT. I loved this work, and it helped solidify my decision to go to medical school. I attended Upstate Medical University and went on to do a residency in Internal Medicine.  During my training at Upstate I developed a passion for cancer medicine and decided to pursue a fellowship in this area.

When I completed my medical training, I moved to Virginia with my wife and children. I worked in a busy community practice in Richmond, but was fortunate to also be involved in cancer research, teaching, and the development of multidisciplinary cancer care teams during that time.

While we loved the weather and the people in Virginia, we ultimately decided to come back to Syracuse to be closer to family.

In my free time I enjoy cooking and outdoor activities. I also love to spend time with my family and to travel when time allows.
