I am excited to join HOA as the first surgeon among our family of physicians. A comprehensive thoracic surgery presence in our community is essential for our patients to continue receiving the highest level of care for lung disease and cancer.

As a thoracic surgeon, I operate on the organs of the chest, including the esophagus (tube between mouth and stomach), the trachea (airway) and the chest wall (rib cage and breastbone). Thoracic surgery is often used to diagnose or repair lungs affected by cancer, trauma or pulmonary disease. For lung cancer, surgery may remove nodules, tumors and lymph nodes to diagnose, stage and treat the disease.

I am proud to say I received my medical degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) Health Science Center at Syracuse and a Master of Public Health degree from the Harvard School of Public Health. I am board-certified in general surgery, thoracic surgery, and clinical informatics. I serve as Chair of the Department of Surgery at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Section Head for Thoracic Surgery at Crouse Hospital, and as a clinical assistant professor at SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse. I also am an attending surgeon for all the Syracuse area hospitals, including the Veterans Administration Hospital. Prior to moving to Central New York, I practiced medicine in Rochester, NY.

At the state and national levels, I am Past President of the NYS Chapter of the American College of Surgeons and current American College of Surgeons Governor, as well as Chairman of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons Informatics Task Force.
