Aref Agheli, M.D.

After completing a degree in Environmental Health at the Iran University of Medical Sciences in 1986, I pursued a Medical Doctorate at the Urmia University of Medical Sciences.  

I was the first to become a medical doctor in my family. Altruism and being a people’s person was the strongest driving factor for me to become a physician. The sense of humanism has grown within me, as I have gone through the stages of training and practicing medicine; the most rewarding part of my career.

I have found oncology as the fastest evolving medical field. The scientific complexity of modern oncology has fascinated and attracted me to continuing learning and teaching, and providing the state of the art patient care.

I have lived most of my adult life in NY, where my children are born, and I have always felt that NY is actually home for me and my family.

I enjoy biking with my family of four on our free time, observing and photographing wilderness, canoeing, and exploring the wild nature. Collecting unique antique china and handcrafts are my passion during our free time.
