CancerConnects, Inc., is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization incorporated under the laws of the State of New York. The organization was first incorporated as Unique Connections, Inc., under the guidance and support of physicians, staff and cancer survivors/patients of Hematology-Oncology Associates of Central New York, P.C., with tax exempt status granted May 6, 2006. The first training class for the Volunteer Mentor Program was held in September 2007 with newly diagnosed cancer patients reaping the benefits of having a cancer survivor and mentor for guidance through the cancer journey.
The organization legally changed its name to CancerConnects, Inc., on July 28, 2010, in a planned effort to move forward and create more positive awareness and sustainable funding streams while sending a distinct message about its mission. The organization strives to connect those remarkable folks in CNY on their cancer journey with the resources they need.
