Santosh Kumar M.D. HOACNY Syracuse
Board-certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, and Hematology

During very early age, whenever I went to see my family physician for fever or any other illness, I saw his dedication and how other patients loved him. I felt it will be a very noble profession to help take care of patients at difficult time of their lives and make them feel better. So I also decided to become a physician.

After completing medical school, I decided to move to USA for further education and training. After three years of internal medicine residency, I joined Dartmouth Hitchcock in NH as attending physician for inpatient care. It was during my hospitalist physician years, when I developed love for Hematology/oncology. The science behind each disease and discovery of new treatment options every day captured my attention. Despite passing through difficult time, I witnessed the strength of my patients. There was always a true connection between the patient and the Oncologist during such a challenging time.

I went to University of Vermont for post doctoral research fellowship in hematology and oncology and participated in various research projects in gastrointestinal cancers and symptoms management. For fellowship in Hematology and Oncology I joined University of Rochester Medical Center and I feel fortunate to learn from some of the best mentors in the field.

I joined Hematology Oncology associates of CNY because I saw team based approach utilizing best available medicine and advanced technology to provide higher quality of care. I think what makes us unique is the ability to treat patient as whole and develop individualize treatment plan for every patient.

During my time away from work, I spend time with family, visit parks and enjoy food at different restaurants.
