Technology

HOA’s comprehensive cancer sites that offer Radiation Therapy, namely, Brittonfield Parkway in East Syracuse and Broad Road, adjacent to Community General Hospital on Onondaga Hill, house a state of the art Varian linear accelerator.  Both of these facilities offer the most advanced model of linear accelerator available to date.  This technology, known as IGRT, is Image Guided Radiation Therapy.  It is state of the art technology for the treatment of tumors because it employs robotics and computerized technology to administer radiation with the highest level of precision and accuracy, while simultaneously rendering minimum damage to any surrounding tissue that is healthy.  The Varian linear accelerator offers the best technology available to cancer patients.

The Brittonfield office is also home to a 40-slice CT, made by Siemens, called the Somatom Sensation Open.  This CT imaging meets today’s challenges by combining the advantages of a large bore with advanced multi-slice CT technology.  This premier solution not only offers exceptional images for diagnostic purposes it also provides diagnostic support for radiation therapy planning and complements HOA’s CyberKnife® and Varian Linear Accelerator.  The Broad Road office is home to a 16-slice, state of the art, Siemens CT that also offers exceptional images.  Some of the many advantages of having CT imaging provided by HOA is more rapid turn around times, cumulative results available to each physician via a timeline that includes each scan with comparative information, and access to images on the physicians’ computer desktop.

HOA’s certified laboratory offers an extensive on-site test menu for exceptional testing and result quality and for the convenience of our patients.
