Throughout my early academic experience, I had a strong affinity for math and science. This interest was cultivated by my parents, who were both teachers for the New York City public school system. I was always impressed by the analytic mind necessary to solve complex physics and chemistry equations.  These problem solving skills were also noteworthy in the oncology physicians I encountered during my family member’s cancer treatment two decades ago.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute was the ideal place for me to pursue training in the biomedical sciences and physics. I now appreciate the diverse science and engineering regimen studied, and how it prepared me for a career in radiation oncology. Shortly after completing medical school at Upstate I married a Syracuse native and ophthalmology physician. We both pursued specialty training at Upstate and chose to raise a family in Syracuse. In our free time we are avid football fans, and I have taught my kids to root for the NY Giants.

During residency I had a strong interest in academia, particularly in breast cancer research for women with genetic predisposition. I am continually impressed by our practice’s commitment to participating in clinical trials and delivering state of the art treatment. HOA strives to provide the highest level of cancer care and I am proud to contribute to our radiation services.
